So, the day has come then I cannot buy my premiumship any longer (at least for the next few months). It's a choice for me - materials for kanzashi or premium membership.

So, if you want to see more of my art and help out a fellow artist - drop by a few points yo help me earn towards a Premium Memebership ( 12 monts is my goal for now)

Thank you!

You must be logged in to donate.
No one has donated yet. Be the first!…

So, I'd like to make a giveaway to celebrate 1000 Likes and this time the prizes are: earrings, a ring and a pendant instead of just one item. You can choose one of three items, but if a lot of people Like & Share I will draw either one, two or three people.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star by Arleen
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
A modern kanzashi made of tiny stars
I just wanted to make one as a possible future reference, and got carried awaywith colors
January 2015 Kisetsubana by Arleen
January 2015 Kisetsubana
I saw this kanzashi only once this year, on maiko Katsuna during shigyoshiki (an event held every year in Gion Kobu on January 7th).

It's a rather unusual combination of purple and pink Chinese asters with hagoita (game paddle which are now used as a lucky charm) and light green pine needles.

I actually had lots of trouble getting the right shade of purple. At first I thought I got it right and after all I've decided it was too dark. The second take was better, but still not perfect. This was the closest I could get to that nice, pinkisn-blue hue in the original Kyoto shade.
Mini Hagoita by Arleen
Mini Hagoita
I was trying to figure out how to make them, including all those tiny details. I think it came out okay, and I established right size for the hagoita. So I can proceed to make the real deal.

I think this size of hagoita will be fine on the maiko-sized kanzashi. It's rather big on three flowers, but the final one will have 12 of the flowers and 3 hagoita plus pine needles (I think I'm going for the custom pink and purple one after all).

They'll end up on Etsy most probably. Too nice to end up showed in my boxes full of "no use" kanzashi, too small to be part of the Kisetsubana project
Little Koi by Arleen
Little Koi
This little Baby Koi is proof I've got kanzashi OCD.
I've made this one on Chayatsuji Kimono's owner, Youandi's request. I started it at 9 in the morning and it's 10 in the evening with just a few breaks to grab some food.

I've made it with mostly 1.5cm pieces of silk, but as you can see some are bigger (on the fins and of course the water). It needs some work still. The base wasn't felt as I usually do, it wasn't find enough to cut the fish shape so I used thick card stock I'm going to seal with a couple of layers of gloss varnish.

I still think it came out pretty nice
Tried the waves for the first time and certainly, not the last!

I'm selling out lots of items right now, and you can bid on some really beautiful kanzashi on ny Facebook fan page:………

:blowkiss: Hello! I'm going through favorites I've missed in the past and thanking people, so bear with me for taking so long to give a personal reply.
:iconrubcheeksplz: Thank you SO much for your support by adding some of my pieces to your favorites last year. :giggle: A long time ago, I know! But I had to thank you sometime!

This is a formal invitation to come and see where my gallery has gone since then, since I believe I've vastly improved. If you don't care for it no harm done and I won't bother you anymore. :D
